India’s Pinaka Gets Deadlier: DRDO Successfully Tests 60-KM Guided Rocket

India has taken another major step toward strengthening its indigenous defence capabilities. The Defence Research and Development Organisation> successfully conducted the flight test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket from the Integrated Test Range. The rocket accurately struck its target at a minimum range of 60 kilometres, flawlessly executing all planned in-flight manoeuvres while maintaining its designated trajectory with textbook precision.

Developed jointly by the Armament Research and Development Establishment and the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, with support from the Defence Research and Development Laboratory and Research Centre Imarat, the guided rocket marks a significant advancement in India’s indigenous missile and rocket technology. A key highlight of the trial was that the rocket was launched from the existing Pinaka launcher already in service with the Indian Army, demonstrating the system’s ability to fire rockets of different ranges from the same platform.

This enhances operational flexibility and significantly strengthens the Indian Army’s long-range precision strike capability. Congratulating the scientists and the armed forces, Rajnath Singh described the successful test as a major milestone in India’s journey toward self-reliance in advanced defence technology. The achievement further reinforces the country’s growing capability to design and develop world-class indigenous precision-guided weapon systems.
