Gurugram is poised to create a new national record with plans for India’s tallest building, a proposed 620–700 metre mixed-use skyscraper in the upcoming ‘Global City’ project near Dwarka Expressway. The project will be developed on a 6.7-acre plot as part of a 1,000-acre integrated urban development planned by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC). According to officials, the skyscraper will feature a mix of residential and commercial spaces, designed around a “walk-to-work” concept with a strong focus on sustainability and modern urban infrastructure.
The site is expected to become a major landmark in the National Capital Region, significantly reshaping Gurugram’s skyline. The Haryana government has been in discussions with developers from NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai over the past few years to finalise the project framework. The Global City is strategically located near Dwarka Expressway and a proposed metro corridor, which is expected to further enhance connectivity and support transit-oriented development. Experts believe the project will strengthen investor confidence and accelerate premium real estate growth in the region.
Industry leaders note that Gurugram has already emerged as one of India’s top real estate destinations, often competing with major metros like Mumbai and Delhi in terms of commercial and residential expansion. Currently, Mumbai dominates India’s skyline landscape, accounting for the majority of tall buildings in the country. However, Gurugram’s upcoming development is expected to mark a significant shift, positioning it as a new hub for vertical urban growth and world-class infrastructure.
