Pune IT Firm Shuts Overnight, Over 700 Employees Left Jobless; CEO Arrested

A major controversy has erupted in Pune’s Hinjewadi IT hub after Thynk Technology India allegedly shut down its office overnight, leaving more than 700 employees and interns without jobs. The sudden closure has triggered shock across the local tech community, with reports of unpaid salaries, bounced cheques, and financial irregularities emerging from the company. According to affected employees, the company had not paid salaries and stipends since February. Many also claim that cheques issued by the firm were dishonored. In addition, interns and employees were allegedly charged security deposits of up to ₹15,000 under the pretext of providing laptops, raising serious concerns about fraudulent hiring practices.

The office located in the Garage Imperial Rise building in Hinjewadi Phase-2 was reportedly locked without prior notice, and the management has since gone out of contact. The abrupt shutdown has left software engineers, freshers, and interns stranded and seeking legal recourse. Following complaints from victims, police and labour department officials have launched an investigation into the matter. The company’s CEO has been arrested on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust. Employee advocacy groups such as the Forum for IT Employees (FITE) are also stepping in to assist those affected.
