Shopping in Delhi’s busy Lajpat Nagar market has become easier with a new startup introducing an on-ground “shopping assistant” service for just ₹149 per hour. The service, launched by Delhi-based startup CarryMen, aims to help customers navigate crowded lanes, carry heavy shopping bags, and move comfortably through the market without physical strain. The assistant accompanies shoppers throughout their visit, helping them locate shops, carry bags, manage queues, and even assist in finding resting spots or directions to parking areas or metro stations. The service is designed for shoppers who often feel exhausted due to long walks and heavy loads, which sometimes cut their shopping trips short.
According to the company, each assistant can carry up to 12 kilograms of luggage, and customers exceeding that limit may need to hire additional help. Flexible packages of 2, 3, and 4 hours are also available to suit different shopping needs. The startup, founded by two Delhi-based entrepreneurs who experienced the challenges of crowded markets firsthand, launched its operations in April this year. In its first month alone, CarryMen reportedly completed over 50 bookings, relying primarily on word-of-mouth and organic social media reach rather than paid advertising. Currently operational only in Lajpat Nagar, the service is already gaining attention and is expected to expand soon to other major markets like Chandni Chowk, as demand continues to grow for this unique retail convenience model.
