Noida International Airport Set for Commercial Launch with First Flight to Lucknow on June 15

The Noida International Airport at Jewar is set to begin commercial flight operations from June 15, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure expansion. According to official sources from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the airport’s first scheduled flight will operate from Noida to Lucknow. The inaugural flight will carry farmers as special passengers, and the event will be formally flagged off in the presence of senior officials from the civil aviation ministry, DGCA, and Noida International Airport Limited, along with the airport’s CEO.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation had granted the aerodrome licence on March 6, 2026, clearing the way for operational readiness. In its first phase, the airport has been developed with a single runway, a modern passenger terminal, and an advanced air traffic control (ATC) tower, along with all essential aviation infrastructure. IndiGo will become the first airline to commence regular services from the airport starting June 15, officials confirmed. The launch is being viewed as a key step in strengthening air connectivity in the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh.

Developed on approximately 1,334 hectares of land in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority region of Gautam Buddha Nagar district, the project is among the most ambitious infrastructure initiatives of the Uttar Pradesh government. The airport’s first phase is designed to handle an annual passenger capacity of around 12 million. Officials said the project represents a coordinated development model between the central and state governments and is expected to boost connectivity, trade, and regional economic growth. With the commencement of operations, the Noida International Airport is expected to emerge as a major aviation, logistics, and connectivity hub, contributing significantly to the region’s rapidly evolving infrastructure landscape.
