Modi’s 5-Nation Diplomatic Tour Begins with UAE: Energy Security, Strategic Oil Reserves in Focus

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a crucial five-nation diplomatic tour beginning today, with the first stop in the United Arab Emirates. The six-day visit comes at a time of rising global energy uncertainty and is expected to focus heavily on strengthening India’s energy security, particularly through long-term oil and LPG cooperation. After the UAE, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy. Modi’s visit to Abu Dhabi is being viewed as the most significant leg of the tour amid growing tensions in global energy markets. The visit is expected to strengthen strategic, economic, cultural and bilateral ties between India and the UAE.

A major focus will remain on energy cooperation. India is expected to sign key agreements related to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply and strategic petroleum reserves with the UAE leadership. According to media reports, India’s state-owned Indian Oil Corporation and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) may sign a strategic cooperation agreement for LPG supply. Another major agreement is expected between Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL) and ADNOC for expanding cooperation on strategic crude oil storage.

Officials believe that expanding energy cooperation with the UAE will be one of the defining outcomes of the Prime Minister’s visit. The visits to Sweden and Norway are likely to emphasize green energy, innovation and Arctic cooperation, while meetings in Italy and the Netherlands are expected to cover trade, manufacturing and geopolitical coordination. The five-country outreach is being seen as a major diplomatic effort by India to reinforce strategic alliances and secure long-term economic and energy interests amid an increasingly volatile global environment.
