Massive Fire in Nagpur Scrap Car Yard Destroys 400 Vehicles, Loss Worth Crores

A devastating fire broke out in a used car storage yard in Khairi village, near Nagpur in Nagpur, reducing over 400 vehicles and spare parts to ashes. The blaze, which erupted suddenly on Thursday afternoon, rapidly spread across the premises filled with second-hand cars, tyres, and highly flammable automobile components, leading to one of the biggest recent industrial fire incidents in the region. According to officials, thick smoke was first noticed rising from the warehouse before the flames quickly engulfed the entire facility located along the Khairi-Kanhan road in the Taranganagar area. Panic spread among workers and nearby residents as the fire intensified within minutes. Fortunately, all staff managed to evacuate safely before the situation escalated.

Fire services from multiple stations, including Kamthi, Yerkheda, and Nagpur Municipal Corporation, rushed to the spot with around 15 fire tenders. After several hours of continuous firefighting efforts, the blaze was finally brought under control. However, by then, nearly all vehicles stored in the yard had been completely destroyed. Preliminary reports suggest that extreme heat conditions combined with the large quantity of flammable materials may have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause and assess the total financial damage, which is estimated to be in the crores. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported in the incident.
