India’s women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur is all set to script history in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash against South Africa in Manchester, as she becomes the first woman cricketer in the world to play 200 T20 International matches. The milestone will be achieved when India take on South Africa in their third match of the tournament. With this appearance, Harmanpreet will reach the landmark of 200 T20Is, setting a global record in women’s cricket and further cementing her legacy as one of the most influential players in the format.

So far, Harmanpreet has featured in 199 T20 Internationals, scoring 4,123 runs and also picking up 32 wickets, showcasing her value as a genuine all-rounder for India over the years. Bates is also expected to retire after the conclusion of the World Cup.

Among Indian players, the next closest is star batter Smriti Mandhana, who is set to play her 169th T20I against South Africa.
