The 20-year-old secured the championship with a round to spare, underlining his growing stature among the world’s elite chess players. Praggnanandhaa established an early advantage during the rapid section and maintained his lead throughout the blitz rounds. His closest challenger, Uzbekistan’s Javokhir Sindarov, remained within striking distance but was unable to overtake the Indian star. A crucial draw against Sindarov in a challenging endgame in the penultimate round effectively sealed the title.
Praggnanandhaa finished at the top of the standings with 23.5 points, 1.5 points ahead of Sindarov, who scored 22. American Grandmaster Wesley So finished third with 21.5 points.
