ASUS Unveils World’s First Wi-Fi 8 Router With Up to 30Gbps Speed

At Computex 2026 in Taiwan, ASUS has unveiled what it claims to be the world’s first Wi-Fi 8 router, marking a major leap in next-generation wireless networking technology. The router, named ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro, is designed to deliver ultra-fast connectivity with speeds of up to 30Gbps, targeting gamers and high-performance users. A key highlight of the device is its multi-WAN capability, allowing users to connect up to three broadband services simultaneously, including providers like Jio and Airtel. This feature ensures seamless connectivity by automatically switching networks in case one connection fails, minimizing downtime and improving reliability for streaming, gaming, and professional use.

The router is based on early IEEE 802.11bn (Wi-Fi 8) standards, which are still under development and expected to be finalized around 2028. Despite being ahead of the official standard, ASUS has equipped the device with advanced hardware, including a quad-band design and dual 10G ports supporting up to 20Gbps link aggregation. To handle high performance and thermal load, the router features an active cooling system with a nano-carbon coated aluminum heat plate for efficient temperature management. However, most current devices such as smartphones and laptops still support Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7, meaning users may not fully utilize its capabilities yet. ASUS has not announced pricing or availability details so far.
