PM Modi to Visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Feb 28;  Multiple Development Projects on Agenda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on February 28 for a two-day tour covering Chennai, Madurai and Puducherry. The visit is expected to include government programmes, infrastructure inaugurations, temple visits and political engagements. According to sources, the Prime Minister will arrive in Chennai on Saturday evening and will stay overnight at Raj Bhavan. The tour highlights the Centre’s focus on development initiatives in southern India.

On March 1, PM Modi will travel to Puducherry where he is expected to attend an official government function. After the administrative programme, he will address a public rally organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party, marking a significant political outreach in the union territory. The rally is being seen as part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the region ahead of future elections.

Later, the Prime Minister will proceed to Madurai where he is likely to offer prayers at the Tirupparankundram Subramanya Swamy Temple, one of the six sacred abodes of Lord Murugan. In Madurai, he will also inaugurate the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital, reinforcing the government’s push to expand healthcare infrastructure. Several other development projects will also be launched through video conferencing to boost regional growth.

Railway officials said the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for multiple projects under the Southern Railway Zone. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, renovated railway stations including Morappur, Bommidi, Pollachi, Karaikudi, Srivilliputhur, Cholavandan, Tiruvarur and Manapparai will be inaugurated. New train services on key routes such as Tambaram–Mangaluru, Coimbatore–Dhanbad, Nagercoil–Charlapalli and Rameswaram–Mangaluru will also be flagged off to improve connectivity across southern and eastern corridors. Security has been tightened across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
