Delhi MCD Demolishes 47 Dangerous Buildings, Seals 282 Properties in Citywide Crackdown

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has intensified its action against illegal construction and unsafe buildings following directions from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Between September 6 and October 10, the civic body took demolition action against 1,046 properties across all 12 zones, sealed 282 properties and demolished 47 dangerous buildings to reduce safety risks and prevent potential accidents.

The demolition drive covered all municipal zones, including Rohini, South Delhi, Shahdara, Karol Bagh and Civil Lines. South Delhi recorded action against 121 properties, followed by Rohini with 158 and Shahdara North with 115. The MCD also carried out sealing operations across the city as part of its enforcement campaign.

Following a building collapse in Seemapuri, authorities demolished one unsafe structure and issued notices to three other houses through the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed the concerned agencies to continue enforcement against unauthorised and unsafe structures across the capital, with demolition and sealing measures carried out wherever required under the rules. The stated objective is to improve public safety and prevent building-related accidents.
