Battery Explosion Sparks Deadly Jakarta Blaze: 20 Dead

A devastating fire broke out in a seven-story office building in Central Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 20 people. Central Jakarta Police Chief Susatyo Purnomo Condro confirmed the fatalities which include five men and 15 women, among them a pregnant woman. All bodies have been transported to the police hospital for autopsy.

Police indicated that the fire originated from a battery explosion on the building’s first floor which caused the flames to spread rapidly to the upper levels.
Firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene and launched a search and rescue operation. Authorities are currently prioritizing the identification of the recovered victims as the search continues for any remaining trapped individuals.
