India Announce ODI Squad for England Series: Kohli, Bumrah Return; Jaiswal Dropped

India have announced their ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against England, set to be played in July, with the return of senior stars Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah marking the biggest highlights of the selection. While Kohli makes a comeback after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during IPL 2026, his participation will depend on a mandatory fitness test scheduled on June 22 at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Bumrah, who was rested for the Afghanistan series, has also been cleared to return to international action after receiving medical clearance.

One of the major surprises in the squad is the exclusion of young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, despite his recent brilliant century against Afghanistan in Chennai, where he scored 110 runs. His omission has sparked discussion, especially as Kohli returns to strengthen the top order. India will be led by Shubman Gill, with Shreyas Iyer serving as vice-captain. The squad also features two wicketkeepers, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul, providing depth in the batting lineup.

Among the pace attack, Bumrah is joined by Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Gurunoor Brar, and Prasidh Krishna, while the spin department includes Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel. Overall, the squad remains largely similar to the one that faced Afghanistan, with a few key changes driven by fitness updates and strategic adjustments ahead of the high-profile England tour.
