Historic IPL 2026 Match Sets World Record as Six Batters Score 50+ in a Single Game

The T20 format, which has been played for over 23 years since its official debut on June 13, 2003, witnessed an unprecedented milestone on May 16, 2026, during an IPL 2026 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at Eden Gardens. For the first time in T20 history, six different batters scored 50 or more runs in a single match, setting a new world record. While T20 cricket has seen multiple high-scoring encounters over the years—including instances where up to five batters reached fifty-plus scores in a single game—this match marked the first-ever occurrence of six such performances in one contest. The feat came after 8,372 days of T20 cricket history, making it a landmark moment for the format.

The match featured outstanding batting performances from both sides, with players from four different countries contributing to the record-breaking achievement. Three Indian batters, along with players from Australia, New Zealand, and England, all crossed the 50-run mark, highlighting the global dominance of T20 cricket talent. For KKR, the standout performances came from Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who remained unbeaten on 82 off 44 balls, and Cameron Green of Australia, who scored an unbeaten 52 off 28 balls. New Zealand’s Finn Allen stole the spotlight with a blistering 93 off just 35 deliveries. This marked the second occasion where a KKR trio registered 50-plus scores in a single IPL match, previously achieved in 2019 by Shubman Gill, Chris Lynn, and Andre Russell.

On the other side, Gujarat Titans also made history with their own trio of half-centurions. Sai Sudharsan scored an unbeaten 53 off 28 balls, while captain Shubman Gill contributed 85 off 49 deliveries. England’s Jos Buttler added 57 off 35 balls, completing GT’s second instance of three batters scoring 50-plus in a single IPL match. The extraordinary batting display from both teams not only produced a record-breaking encounter but also reinforced the IPL’s reputation as one of the most explosive and competitive T20 leagues in world cricket.
