Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has created history in the Duleep Trophy 2026 semi-final against Central Zone, becoming the youngest batter ever to score a half-century in the tournament. Vaibhav reached his fifty in just 42 balls at the age of 15 years and 157 days, breaking Laxman Singh’s 57-year-old record of 16 years and 23 days, set in 1969.
Vaibhav continued his aggressive approach and fell just eight runs short of a century. He was dismissed for 92 runs off 81 balls, smashing 7 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 113.58. Vaibhav also took charge as East Zone captain after Ishan Kishan was forced off the field following a hand injury while wicketkeeping. Meanwhile, Central Zone, led by Rajat Patidar, were bowled out for 266 runs in their first innings, with Rinku Singh top-scoring with 60 runs.
