Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will visit India from October 21 to 23 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced. During his visit, Tusk will hold bilateral talks with Modi in New Delhi on October 22, focusing on strengthening relations between the two countries and reviewing key areas of cooperation. The visit marks Tusk’s second trip to India as prime minister, following his earlier visit in 2010 during his previous tenure.

The upcoming visit comes after India and Poland elevated their bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Poland in August 2024. According to the MEA, the two leaders will review the full range of bilateral ties and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to cooperation in trade and investment, defence, emerging technologies, renewable energy, education, culture and people-to-people exchanges.

Tusk will be accompanied by Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domański, along with a large business delegation. Following his engagements in New Delhi, the Polish prime minister will travel to Bengaluru, where he is scheduled to interact with business stakeholders, including representatives from the information technology and space sectors. The India-Poland Business Forum will be held in New Delhi on October 22 and in Bengaluru on October 23, providing opportunities to explore new partnerships and expand commercial ties.

The visit is also expected to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries and contribute to closer India-European Union relations. Both sides have been exploring opportunities across several strategic sectors, including digital technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, defence, shipping, mining and energy. These areas were also discussed during External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s meeting with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski in Warsaw on September 4, when the two sides reviewed progress under their Joint Action Plan for 2024–28.

With India and Poland seeking to expand cooperation across traditional and emerging sectors, Tusk’s visit is expected to reinforce the strategic partnership and create fresh opportunities for trade, investment and technological collaboration. The meetings in New Delhi and Bengaluru will be closely watched for potential initiatives aimed at deepening economic engagement and strengthening diplomatic ties.
