China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to visit India to attend the 16th BRICS National Security Advisers (NSA) meeting, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on June 22–23. The high-level gathering will bring together NSA officials from BRICS member countries to discuss key security challenges, as well as pressing regional and global issues amid an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
According to official sources, Wang Yi’s visit comes at the invitation of India’s NSA Ajit Doval, who has extended formal engagement for the meeting. During his stay in New Delhi, Wang Yi is also likely to hold a bilateral meeting with Doval, marking an important diplomatic interaction between the two countries amid ongoing efforts to stabilize ties. The BRICS NSA meeting is being viewed as significant, especially as India holds the rotating chairmanship of the grouping this year.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening political and security cooperation, enhancing coordination among member nations, and promoting a more balanced and multipolar global governance framework. BRICS currently includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, along with newer members such as Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. With the BRICS Summit scheduled to be hosted by India in 2026, this meeting is also seen as a key step in shaping the agenda for future multilateral engagement.
