Elon Musk’s SpaceX has reportedly made history by launching the world’s largest initial public offering (IPO), raising massive investor interest and pushing the company’s valuation to unprecedented levels. The IPO is said to have propelled Musk within striking distance of becoming the world’s first trillionaire, with his net worth surging significantly. According to reports, SpaceX raised around $75 billion through the IPO, surpassing Saudi Aramco’s previous record of $29.4 billion. The company issued 55.56 crore shares at $135 each, with potential total proceeds reaching up to $86 billion if additional shares are fully subscribed.
Based on the IPO pricing, SpaceX’s market capitalization has been estimated at $1.77 trillion, with its fully diluted valuation nearing $1.8 trillion. This makes SpaceX one of the most valuable companies globally, even larger than Tesla, another firm led by Musk. The IPO reportedly saw overwhelming demand, with subscriptions nearly four times higher than the available shares. Retail investors alone placed orders exceeding $100 billion, highlighting strong market enthusiasm driven by Musk’s popularity and growing interest in artificial intelligence and space technologies.
Following the IPO, Musk’s net worth reportedly increased by approximately $274 billion, reaching around $971 billion, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimates. This places him just a short distance away from becoming the world’s first trillionaire. SpaceX is also expanding beyond its core space and satellite internet operations, positioning itself as a major player in AI infrastructure.
The company is exploring future projects such as orbital data centers and robotic factories on the Moon, aiming to integrate artificial intelligence with space-based computing systems. The development has also sparked expectations of a broader wave of AI-driven IPOs, with companies like OpenAI and Anthropic reportedly preparing for potential public listings in the near future, potentially at trillion-dollar valuations
