Google Eyes Massive Investment in India’s AI, Drone & Server Manufacturing Sectors

Google is exploring major investment opportunities in India across artificial intelligence infrastructure, drone manufacturing, and server production, signaling a significant push into the country’s rapidly growing digital economy. The announcement was shared by India’s Union IT and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw following discussions with Google officials. The development comes at a time when Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced a sharp increase in the company’s global capital expenditure, with a strong focus on expanding AI infrastructure. Google is reportedly doubling down on investments in machine learning and cloud computing capabilities as part of its long-term AI strategy.

One of the biggest highlights is Google’s proposed $15 billion investment plan in Visakhapatnam, where the company aims to establish a gigawatt-scale AI ecosystem. The project includes India’s first large-scale AI hub featuring three major data center campuses and a 1 GW hyperscale AI data center. The initiative is being developed in partnership with AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel.

The Andhra Pradesh government has reportedly allocated around 600 acres of land for the project in areas including Tarluwada, Rambilli, and Adavivaram. According to company officials, the AI hub is expected to become a key pillar of India’s digital transformation and contribute significantly to the country’s ambition of becoming a global AI powerhouse by 2047. Experts believe Google’s growing interest in India reflects the country’s rising importance in the global technology and AI ecosystem, while also supporting the government’s push toward digital infrastructure, indigenous manufacturing, and innovation-led economic growth.
