Renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik has set a new world record by creating a massive Santa Claus sculpture using 1.5 tons of apples and sand at Niladri Beach in Puri. Titled “World’s Biggest Apple and Sand Installation of Santa Claus,” the artwork measures 60 feet in length, 45 feet in width, and 22 feet in height, making it a record-breaking festive masterpiece.
Unveiled to the public on Thursday and officially recognized by the World Records Book of India, the sculpture not only celebrated the spirit of Christmas but also conveyed a message of world peace and harmony. The unique combination of apples and sand drew large crowds of locals and tourists, who appreciated Pattnaik’s creativity and took photos of the monumental installation.
Known globally for using sand art to highlight social issues and global events, Pattnaik has previously created record-breaking installations on themes like climate change and humanitarian causes. This festive creation further cemented his reputation for innovative and meaningful art, adding a joyful and inspirational touch to the Christmas celebrations across the country.
