Sania Mirza Hails Tennis Premier League Season 7 Kickoff in Ahmedabad

The Tennis Premier League (TPL) Season 7 kicked off on Tuesday at Gujarat University Tennis Stadium, Ahmedabad, featuring thrilling matches and top players. Legendary Indian tennis star Sania Mirza praised TPL for providing young Indian players, especially girls, the opportunity to compete against world-class athletes.

She also lauded Ahmedabad’s efforts to emerge as India’s sports capital and highlighted the upcoming Commonwealth Games as a platform to showcase top talent across various sports. Mirza emphasized that competing in a Grand Slam or reaching top rankings is no small feat and said TPL inspires youth by giving them a chance to play at the highest level.

The tournament saw exciting performances from stars like Rohan Bopanna, Srivalli Bhamidipati and Luciano Darderi. SG Pipers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Rangers started their campaigns with wins, while Srivalli Bhamidipati delivered a stellar performance, winning both her singles and mixed doubles matches alongside Bopanna.

Bopanna described the league as “inspiring” and praised Ahmedabad for promoting sports. He noted that events like TPL and the Commonwealth Games not only elevate the city’s profile but also boost India’s sports ecosystem, encouraging the next generation of athletes.
