India, the world’s most populous nation and fifth-largest economy, has been ranked 12th in the list of the world’s most powerful nations, according to the latest report by Forbes and US News & World Report. Despite a projected GDP of $3.55 trillion and a population of 1.43 billion, India did not make it to the top ten.
The global ranking evaluates nations based on five key factors: economic strength, political influence, strong international alliances, and military capabilities. The list, prepared by Professor David J. Reibstein of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, along with a research team, highlights countries that consistently influence global affairs. India’s position at 12th emphasizes its growing global significance, but also underlines the challenges it faces to break into the top tier of world powers.
