Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Sunday strongly criticised his own government machinery and contractors during an inspection of the Bengaluru Metro Phase 2B corridor from Nagawara to Bagalur Cross, expressing sharp frustration over prolonged delays, poor execution, and public inconvenience. Pulling up Metro officials on the spot, the minister questioned why several pillars have remained incomplete for nearly two years and why key road stretches were blocked for over a year with little visible progress.
“Does it take one year just to complete a pile cap? You promise miracles in two months, but I can’t even see a pillar,” he remarked, taking a direct dig at the contractor. Raising concern over worsening traffic snarls in North Bengaluru, the minister warned that poorly planned and endlessly delayed construction was testing public patience. He stressed that development cannot come at the cost of prolonged suffering and called for strict accountability, faster execution, and better coordination to ensure Metro works are completed at the earliest.
