Bhopal Metro Inaugurated: AIIMS to Subhash Nagar Route Now Operational

Bhopal residents can now enjoy the city’s metro service as the first phase of the Orange Line begins operations today. The new metro corridor runs between AIIMS and Subhash Nagar, covering approximately 7 kilometers with eight elevated stations: AIIMS, Alkapuri, DRM Office, Rani Kamalapati Railway Station, MP Nagar, Board Office Chauraha, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Subhash Nagar. The metro aims to save both time and travel costs for commuters, particularly benefiting those traveling to AIIMS.

Ticket fares have been set between ₹20 and ₹40, with manual ticket counters available at stations. The service operates from 8 AM to 8 PM, with trains running at speeds between 30 km/h and 80 km/h. Central Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the metro on Saturday, taking a ride along with school students from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS. The introduction of the metro is expected to ease traffic congestion in the city.
