Punjab is experiencing a significant drop in temperatures as light fog and a cold wave continue to grip the state. On Tuesday, the minimum temperature fell by 1°C, bringing it 1.6°C below normal with Faridkot emerging as the coldest district at 3°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Wednesday and Thursday for districts including Jalandhar, Firozpur, Moga, Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda and Fazilka. Temperatures in these areas are expected to fall further in the coming days. Despite the falling minimums, the weather remains dry across Punjab. Maximum temperatures have also declined by 0.5°C, settling 1.9°C below normal, with Bathinda recording the highest at 28.2°C. Other districts recorded maximum temperatures ranging from 21.1°C in Amritsar to 26.0°C in Bathinda, while minimums ranged from 4.2°C in Ludhiana to 6.7°C in Firozpur. Residents are advised to take precautions, especially during early mornings and nights, as temperatures continue to remain below normal.
